Overview of French dress in the first three quarters of sixteenth century

This is a copy of a paper that I gave at a Collegium recently. It gives an overview of styles and various elements of French dress in the first three quarters of 16th century. An overview of the last quarter will be published eventually. More images of dress during these periods can be found in the galleries, which I hope will be updated shortly.

An exploration of 16th century French dress

Please note that the file is just under 9mb in size – it includes a lot of images. Please feel free to share the link and/or to use the paper for any educational or SCA purposes, with appropriate attribution. This paper may not be used for any other purpose without express permission.
